It’s a thrill and an honour to win the 2022 Travel Writer of the Year gong. I’m stoked, naturally. I did have the great advantage of travelling to stunning places like the Cocos Islands and Queensland Gulf Country — thanks, Tourism Australia — where an inspiring destination will heart-start your best stories every time. Huge congrats are in order to the winners and finalists in all of the 20 award categories.
And let’s give credit to the ASTW’s absolutely ‘arms-length’ judging protocols in which all entries are assessed anonymously by non-ASTW member judges located here and overseas. John Borthwick - Writer Member and winner of the ASTW Awards for Excellence 2022 Travel Writer of the Year
